O’Keeffe Predicting TCR Shakeup at QR

Dylan O’Keeffe is predicting a shakeup in the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia standings when the series resumes for Round 5 at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

The Autoglym Lynk & Co driver is currently eighth in the standings, but is only 40 points outside the top 3, with most races awarding 50 points to the winner. With three rounds (nine races) remaining in the season, O’Keeffe knows a good championship result is well within reach.

“Because there’s been a variety of drivers winning races and running at the front of the field this year, it’s kept the championship really close and we’ve certainly been in the mix,” O’Keeffe said.

“Our strength this year has been our consistency – we’ve only had the one bad result, a DNF at Phillip Island. Without that, I’d probably be in the top five.”

The Queensland Raceway circuit places an emphasis on braking, with high-speed approaches to slow corners at Turns 3, 4 and 6; O’Keeffe feels it’s an area where the Lynk & Co will be strong.

“We were fast at Symmons Plains, another circuit with big braking applications, so we’re confident that will work to our advantage this weekend,” he said.

“The racing at QR is always exciting, because there are several overtaking zones and plenty of opportunities for cars to run side-by-side, so it should be an entertaining weekend for spectators.”

This weekend’s TCR races will be shown live on 7PLUS.
