Dylan O’Keeffe is excited to add another national motorsport category to his extensive racing resume, when he makes his debut in Monochrome GT4 Australia at this weekend’s LIQUI MOLY GT Festival at Sydney Motorsport Park.
O’Keeffe will join Tim Leahey in a BMW M4 GT4 run by Ashley Seward Motorsport in the Sliver-Am class.
“I can’t wait to go racing in Sydney this weekend – after a tough round in Carrera Cup at The Bend, this will be a fun way to bounce back,” O’Keeffe said.
“Ash Seward has been a big supporter of my career and I’ve always enjoyed working with him in different categories, especially TCR where we enjoyed a lot of success together, while Tim is very experienced and one of the fastest Am drivers around.
“My major Carrera Cup sponsor, Dexion, has a strong presence in Sydney, so this event is a great platform to provide them with some additional value as well.”
While he hasn’t driven a GT4 car yet, O’Keeffe is confident he’ll be able to adapt to the driving style without too many difficulties.
“They’re not as fast as a GT3 or Carrera Cup car, but they have adjustable driving aids to make them easy to handle for amateur drivers, while still having enough power to be fun for professionals,” he said.
“The category is going from strength to strength in Australia at the moment and it’s easy to see why – the cars appeal to such a wide range of competitors.”
O’Keeffe will have his first taste of GT4 machinery in practice on Friday, with a pair of qualifying sessions and a one-hour race on Saturday, followed by another one-hour race on Sunday. Qualifying and both races will be shown live on Fox Sports and Kayo.
