Reigning Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia Champion Dylan O’Keeffe will kick off his Carrera Cup title defence at this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix, and says the drivers will be challenged by some subtle differences to the Type 992 Cup cars compared to previous seasons.
The most significant change is the introduction of ABS (anti-lock brakes) to the category, for both Pro and Pro-Am competitors.
“Having ABS definitely means you change your driving technique, but thankfully I’ve had some recent experience in GT3 cars, which also have ABS, so it hasn’t taken me long to adapt,” O’Keeffe said.

“I think it will enhance the racing – because there’s far less risk of locking a brake, people will be prepared to have a go at some big overtaking moves.”
O’Keeffe finished second overall at the AGP round last year and said he always enjoys racing in front of his home crowd.
“With the explosion in popularity of F1, there have been huge crowds at the Grand Prix the last few years and it’s always fun racing in front of such a big audience,” O’Keeffe said.
“I’m looking forward to achieving some good results in the Carrera Cup races, and then cheering on my old karting rival Oscar Piastri in the Grand Prix – hopefully he can bring home the win!”
The Carrera Cup action at the Grand Prix commences on Thursday with practice, qualifying and Race 1.
