Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia contender Dylan O’Keeffe has earned a late call-up to compete in Rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the Carrera Cup Asia Championship, to be held this weekend at the Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, Indonesia.
O’Keeffe, who currently sits second in the Carrera Cup Australia standings, will drive for the Asian-based Toro Racing outfit, and is excited to add another circuit to his repertoire.
“Last time I raced in Asia was when I did the Carrera Cup Australia v Asia event at Sepang in Thailand back in 2017, so I’m excited to learn a new circuit and compete against Asia’s top Porsche racers,” O’Keeffe said.
“I’ve already driven the circuit – I did some laps there last year. It’s a cool track, with a mixture of fast and slow corners and some good passing opportunities.”
O’Keeffe is hopeful his participation in another Carrera Cup series will enable him to gain some knowledge that he can apply to his Carrera Cup Australia title quest.
“It’s going to be an interesting experience, racing in another Porsche category for a different team, and seeing how they go about approaching a race weekend, setting up the car and managing their operations over the course of an event.
“Whenever you put yourself in an unfamiliar environment, you always learn and grow, so it’s a valuable opportunity for me.”
The weekend format consists of two 45-minute practice sessions, two 15-minute qualifying sessions, two 30 minute races and a final 45 minute race, which will commence with a rolling start.
The Carrera Cup races will be shown on the Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific YouTube Channel.
