O’Keeffe: Singapore Was Awesome But There’s Nothing Like Bathurst

While he may have competed at Singapore’s spectacular Marina Bay Formula 1 circuit last weekend, Dylan O’Keeffe said there’s still nothing like racing at Mount Panorama during the Bathurst 1000, where he will contest Round 6 of Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup this weekend.

“Singapore was amazing, but I can’t wait to head back to the Mountain – no other track in the world compares,” O’Keeffe said.

“I’m feeling really good about this weekend; my engineer Rob and I learned so much from Carrera Cup Asia, just in terms of how they go about setting up their cars and in Singapore, I had a fast team-mate in Enzo Trulli who I was able to learn from.

“Last time I raced at Bathurst was the TCR round at the end of last year, which I won, so I’m definitely heading back to a track where I’ve had decent form.”

Unlike the last five years where he has been on double duty, this year O’Keeffe’s sole focus will be on his Porsche program.

“While it was a shame not to land a Supercars endurance drive this year, the positive is that I will be able to dedicate my sole focus to the Carrera Cup races,” he said.

“Without any Supercars commitments, it’s actually quite a spread-out weekend – our busiest day is Thursday with two sessions, and the rest of the weekend we only have one session each day.

“From a championship standpoint, it will be important to have another Darwin-spec weekend to keep the pressure on the leader heading into the final two rounds, so it will be game on from practice tomorrow,” O’Keeffe concluded.

The Carrera Cup sessions will be shown live on Channel 7, Fox Sports and Kayo.
