After a lengthy break, Dylan O’Keeffe is itching to return to his Dexion Porsche for Round 3 of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup at this weekend’s betr Darwin Triple Crown.
O’Keeffe’s last race was in the previous Carrera Cup round at the Australian Grand Prix, some three months ago, however he and his GWR Australia team recently tested at The Bend Motorsport Park.
“Having been out of the car so long, I’m glad I was able to get some seat time at The Bend to dial myself back in, and we found some more improvements with the car,” O’Keeffe said.
“It’s actually had a birthday since the last round including a fresh engine, so it’s in prime condition for Darwin.”
O’Keeffe has tasted previous success at the Hidden Valley circuit, breaking through for his maiden Carrera Cup round win at the venue in 2018.
“I’ve always enjoyed racing at Hidden Valley – it’s a fun track with some good passing opportunities, especially at the end of the long main straight, and the atmosphere in Darwin is friendly and relaxed,” he said.
“The biggest challenge is the heat – physical fitness will definitely be a factor this weekend, especially in the longer 45-minute race on Sunday morning.”
O’Keeffe comes into the weekend second in the standings, just 15 points off the lead, and is aiming to apply some more pressure to the series leader.
“It’s been the best start I’ve had to a Carrera Cup season with a streak of podiums, now the plan is to add some race wins to my 2025 tally and push to the very top of the ladder,” O’Keeffe concluded.
The Carrera Cup cars hit the track for practice on Friday, with all sessions live on Fox Sports and Kayo.
