Dylan O’Keeffe says he will be racing more assertively in 2025 as he chases Carrera Cup championship glory, starting at this weekend’s Sydney Motorsport Park season opener.
The RAM Motorsport/GWR Australia driver has twice finished third in the series standings – in 2018 and 2024 – and said no stone has been left unturned in his quest for his and the team’s first national title in Australia’s premier Porsche category.
“As a team, there’s no doubt we’ve improved the car over the last couple of seasons and we know we have front-running pace at every track, so there’s also a responsibility upon me as a driver to ensure I maximise every opportunity,” O’Keeffe said.
“In the past, there have been occasions where I’ve been conservative in wheel-to-wheel combat with other cars, but at the end of last year I was getting my elbows out a bit more, and at Adelaide I made a decisive move in the last race to ensure I finished in the championship top-three.
“I’ll be adopting that same approach from the very start of this season; we’re going to be competing for the championship from the start of the year, which means racing fiercely for every single position.”
O’Keeffe has a strong record at Sydney Motorsport Park, recording his first race win there in 2018 and finishing second overall last year.
“We were fast at SMP last season, and we had a test day last week which went really well – we’ve definitely made some more gains during the off-season.
“The competition is strong again, as it always is in Carrera Cup, but our expectation is to be at the very front of the field this weekend,” O’Keeffe concluded.
Carrera Cup practice commences on Friday afternoon; this weekend’s sessions will all be shown live on FOX Sports and Kayo.
